Current Thoughts About The Game Project

Before I go any deeper, let me comfort you by saying “No, I am not discontinuing my project.”

I am sorry for the lack of updates for the past few months, I have been busy with work and catching up on my Manga Project (The Embodiment of Sins) before the end of this year’s event; Comic Fiesta 2025.

I was trying to squeeze some work into my game. I have been adding bare bones enemy AI with self-switches and progressing on the Mistress scenario, but I can’t bring myself to finish it, not because I am losing interest but frustrations with RPG Maker.

I am not a programmer by any means, I have very basic knowledge and as I try to delve into making my own plugins, it is one solid roadblock that I can’t get through, I can’t implement things that I want, like:

  1. Enemy States (Wandering, Chasing, Stealth)
  2. Fighting Overworld (Active Battle System)
  3. Bosses with different quirks (So I can actually implement fun bosses like Mistress or Miss Bandit)
  4. Flexible UI ( I can’t even add text to screen!)
  5. Different actions rather than just spamming buttons (I get a lot of feedback on this in a discord server and I can’t stop pondering about it)

RPGMaker is a great tool for specific games and it has taught me a lot of game design and mechanics, making me understand better on how games work and makes me think more like a game developer for conceptual stuff, but I have to let it go because it is quite frustrating to use and working on it feels “bumpy” as you click on things you want to add in your code rather than typing it. Sometimes my mind feels blank and I spend more time searching for the right button to add that finishing the “code” or I should say Event.

I have been bottling this up to myself because I feel a bit of guilt introducing this game to all of you but leave you out when I have doubt in my mind. But today, I have to be crystal clear to you:

This game can’t go on like this, I must make a change.

I have been trying to learn different Game Engines since the past few months, GameMaker, Unity, and Godot. Through all my experience, I decided to pick:

Godot.

I will be remaking this game from the start in Godot, and I thank all of you for the support thus far.

we got your back! from what little i know of a few different game makers GODOT is by far one of the best ones to use! we'll be here ready to check out what you create and look forward to continuing giving support to you.

I really understand you and please do whats best for you, dont stress yourself because some many good games with bondage never got finished because the maker tried to push through the burnout and gave up and never gave any updates about the game which is sad. So do whats best for you, I

Even though I'm eager to see what you make, it'd be pointless if you were frustrated making it and ended up burning out anyway.

Really would love to see more of Miss Bandit, her aesthetic/personality came through strong right away and I think she'll fit in great for the game.

Thank you for understanding! Everything I've done thus far to address problems in my game are more of band-aid solution that are doomed to make more problems in a long run.
